Fantastic guest house
This is a beautiful property. Six really good girlfriends had a blast. It is so very convenient to the historic Main Street. I would recommend this property to a family, group of friends or anyone going to St. Charles!
A Thanksgiving to Remember
I was excited about renting the Old Town Guest House over Thanksgiving weekend. My husband and I rented the River Town Guest House in July for our anniversary and were so charmed by the town and the many things to do, as well as the gorgeous and cozy carriage house itself, that we decided to bring the family back. We originally wanted to rent the River Town along with the Main Street house but they were booked for the Thanksgiving weekend. The Old Town Guest house was better than I could have ever imagined. So roomy yet cozy. Gorgeous. Very comfortable and classy. Extremely reasonably priced for the size of the place and all its amenities-including washer & dryer. So close in proximity to Main street. I had been concerned that since it did not have an oven I would not be able to cook as much as I wanted but I got along just fine with the crock pot and microwave and electric skillet. Seriously, who needs an oven?? It was so fun to be able to walk down the street to get to wherever we wanted. We were so charmed by the actors dressed up as Christmas characters and I had as much fun trying to run into all the characters as my grandchildren did. And what a unique way to learn the history of all the characters. Everyone loved the shopping, including the short drive to Bass Pro Shop-truly something for everyone. We also enjoyed chestnuts roasting on an open fire (and how yummy they were!!) renting a 4 person bicycle to ride along the riverfront, a 1/2 day jaunt to St Louis, morning walks on the Katy Trail, marshmallow roast at the Bike Stop, night life at Llywelyn's Pub, pizza at Frankie Tocco's Pizzeria, seeing Santa at the train depot, voting for our favorite gingerbread house, riding in a horse drawn carriage (doesn't matter how many people are on main street-plenty of carriages to go around!), the many groups of carolers and the short but sweet Christmas parade of characters. All the decorations & lights were so beautiful-very Christmassy-and I LOVED seeing that the restaurants were not daunted by the chilly weather-their outdoor seating is still available this time of year-they all have outdoor heaters/fire pits. I had never been out of town for Thanksgiving in my entire life and was a little apprehensive about that. Not to worry- I already miss the place and would love to make it a Thanksgiving tradition-at least every few years if we can't return every year. In the meantime, I know St Charles will be a win win any time of year. And I would not stay anywhere but one of the Guest House Company properties. What a very special set up. I wish there were 10 stars because that is what these properties deserve. Thank you so much Matt and Audrey. We WILL return and continue to tell friends/family about your perfect houses!
I actually found this home on VRBO on a random google search and fell in love with the pictures immediately. After reading more than enough fantastic reviews, our family decided to stay here for our family vacation. I had honestly never heard of St. Charles before but we were looking for home to stay in vs a hotel and like I said, fell in love with this one right away. The home was immaculate when we arrived and was even cuter than in the pictures! It was perfect for our family of four. We have a teenager who stayed on the 3rd level and was happy with it as it offered her some privacy (there are two queen beds so more than enough space). We also have a four year old and the room off the kitchen on the second floor was the perfect size for her. I was a little concerned about her being on the main level by herself, but we just slid the living room chair against the front door at bedtime and closed the door partitioning the kitchen and living room and she was just fine (this was more just to make me feel better than anything else because she was totally fine). They provided a basket of snacks for us and we had almost everything we needed already such as laundry soap, dish soap, etc. I asked the owner several questions before and during our stay and she was always quick to respond and had was always very pleasant! As you will note in several reviews, there is not a stove, but there is a large electric skillet and also a grill available in the backyard. We ate out the majority of the time but did make some meals using both and it was quite sufficient for our needs. We did not realize just how much St. Charles had to offer until we got there and started venturing out. There is so much to do on Main Street which is only one block away! There are a ton of cute shops, restaurants, bars, etc and lots of History to investigate. The river is right off Main Street as well with a path along it for any of the avid runners / walkers out there. As a helpful hint, this is a sleepy town (other than the bars) so make sure you check on hours of operation before heading out to explore. Also, the two best options for grocery stores are Aldi and IGA. The home was about 30-40 minutes from all the attractions we visited. Even though it was a little bit of a drive vs staying in the city, I would absolutely recommend this as an alternative. After you've had a long day of tourism, it is nice to come back and unwind in this peaceful, lovely home!
This past weekend (6/5 - 6/9), three friends and I rented this cottage for a girl's weekend. I live in St. Louis but they were all from other states (OH, IA, IN). We had a fabulous time! The cottage is just as cute and charming as can be and the owners took obvious care in making sure the place is well stocked and clean for guests. The yard would be terrific for families with small children since it is fenced. The cottage is just one street off of Main Street in St. Charles. We walked there every day to either shop or take advantage of the restaurants in town. We had breakfast two days at the Bike Shop Cafe (love the iced chai lattes and the belgian waffles) and once at Picasso's (the coffee cake was divine). We also had lunch at the Trailhead Brewery (yummy). The cottage is a great central location because it doesn't take long to get anywhere. We went to the City Museum (what a fabulous time! You have to see it to believe it!), the Lafayette Square House Tours, we did a concert in the park, and went to Wentzville to check out the Renaissance Fair. But back to the cottage. What was so nice about the place, is that at night, when we were tired, it was a great place to return "home" to and it did feel like home. We just sat around and had some drinks and played games one night while taking advantage of some of the snacks and sodas that were also stocked. Thanks for the wonderful weekend!
Great vacation home. We really enjoyed our stay for my brother's Wash U graduation. Everything was very clean. We had 3 elderly people with us and everything was easily accessible (first and second levels). There isn't a range or oven, but it forced us to explore the great restaurants nearby. Awesome vacation overall.

Thank you so much! I'm glad your entire family could enjoy the guest house! For families wanting to cook, we do have a electric skillet, crock pot, toaster oven, toaster, and charcoal barbecue pit. But there are numerous marvelous restaurants within walking distance! We have a selection of menus from the area restaurants in the house for guests to browse. Thanks again for staying with us, and we hope to have you return soon!
We had such a fabulous time in this beautiful little home! It has everything you'd need for a getaway weekend. So close to all the fun shops, bars, and restaurants! Only a few minutes from a fabulous casino and a short drive to a few amazing malls in Chesterfield! Back to the house...it's gorgeous, super clean, and so cozy! We absolutely loved staying there and will for sure be back again next year!!!!!
Stayed at this charming home with 3 of my old high school classmates for a Girl's weekend. The location could not be better...within walking distance to restaurants and shops. It was clean and comfortable and we enjoyed the coffee and snacks that was provided. I would definitely stay here again. It was perfect!!!
This is a great location. Walking distance to all of Main St. And the park. The owners made it very hospitable. They anticipated pretty much anything a family could need. Loved, loved, loved the fenced in yard. My toddler was in heaven! We had family from all over meet up here for my son's 2nd birthday. We had a little party in the back yard. It was perfect!
This home is lovely! We found everything to be extremely clean and well equipped for our arrival. St. Louis was a central location for a college girlfriend reunion. We loved that we were able to drive into the city in less than 25 minutes and had easy access to all the St. Louis offers, but St. Charles and its charm was wonderful. We loved walking the street with all the shops and easy access to dining. The home had everything we need, but I would say my only critique would be the need for more counter space and an oven in the kitchen. We knew this before hand and planned our meals appropriately, but I think it would be possible to add an oven and/or stove top on an island in the middle of the kitchen. Just my thoughts. We did have a problem with the toilet and I contacted the owners and they had it fixed promptly! Overall, we enjoyed our stay and found everything completely lovely!! Highly recommend this home and we will stay again if we choose this as our meeting city!
We stayed in the home for a college friend reunion and had a wonderful time. The home is gorgeous and very well maintained. The bedrooms and bathrooms were all very comfortable and the fridge spacious. I would love to visit again!
On our sister trip to St. Louis, we decided to choose a bit out of town. We hit a home run. St. Charles is a lovely town that has a great old town within walking (1 block) from the house. We spent a day exploring old town. Be careful, not much is open on Sunday. There is a casino nearby. The house though was our gem. Three bedrooms, one with two double beds, one with a king and the last with a sunbed and trundle. The King is roomy with a bathroom and laundry access. This room is considered the basement, but even with parking behind the house. The sunroom is on the street level and next to the bathroom. The kitchen is well stocked with a microwave, refrigerator, and dishwasher. The living room is comfortable and well-stocked with games. The upstairs has the two double beds. Just a hint, when unpacking for the sunroom and upstairs, unload on the street level, then go around and unload for the basement. There was a fun basket of goodies left for us as well as directions for the wi-fi. The beds were comfy and the house was spotless. One also needs to know there were doors in front of the stairs and gates available for blocking children. There was a high chair and toys as well. The owner spoke to us before the trip and available by text if needed. We could not have had a better stay. The owner also left restaurant menus for St. Charles and places of interest. Great stay, fabulous house. Thank you for sharing with us.
My husband, daughter (18), and I enjoyed a wonderful weekend in St. Charles and neighboring St. Louis for a little getaway at the start of her spring break week. Your house is in the perfect St. Charles location, just a block off main street and it's so completely charming. Daughter, with her vivid creative imagination, couldn't get past the knowledge that the house is over 140 years old and even though it's completely redone so beautifully, she immediately chose the adorable, comfortable "sunroom" bedroom off the kitchen as opposed to the upstairs bedroom for fear of it being haunted. :) It added to the charm of the visit really and became our little source of talk/laughter on the weekend nights, as I reminded her of the vast majority of historic buildings in St. Charles. She adored her stay in the sunroom bedroom and wishes that she had a room like that at home because it was just so cheery and just right for her petite size. We stayed in the downstairs bedroom which provided some very restful nights of sleep. The first night of our stay, husband relaxed in the comfortable living room, while daughter and I ventured out on foot to explore the town and riverfront. We spent the rest of our time between our favorite areas of St. Louis (Forest Park, Webster Groves - Euclid Records!, Delmar Loop), shopping our favorite shops in historic St. Charles (Joy's and MOss Boutique are 2 personal favorites), and dinner out with friends. We enjoyed Allin's Diner off Kingshighway for breakfast one morning), Little Hills Winery for drinks by the fire was a spirited thing to do on a cold-March night, It was so nice to have our own comfortable space in the house (separated on 3 floors), and we very much appreciated the snacks, the Keurig, the maps in the living room, the adorable shutters, the fresh flowers awaiting on the kitchen table and the little flower sprig in the main floor bathroom. So sweet and thoughtful!! We're spoiled at home with our extra large wall tvs, so this one seemed a bit small to us based on the size of that wall and what could be there : ) but since we weren't there to watch television anyway, it was fine though we had some trouble locating channels that actually showed movies (most were unavailable). Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we definitely recommend this beautiful vacation rental to others!
My husband and 2 children (11 & 8 yo) met up with my 72 yo mother in St. Louis for Spring Break. The house was wonderful. My husband and I stayed in the Master bedroom downstairs, the kids took the upstairs bedroom and my mom stayed in the small room on the main floor near the bathroom and kitchen. The kids were thrilled to find all the board and card games. The WII was a big hit too, as were the movies. My mom, husband and I loved all the little touches- coffee, snacks, goodies in the fridge, menus, etc. Location was great for access to St. Charles and St. Louis. I would stay here again and recommend it to friends.
My family spent three weeks in this home during the worst winter in 20 years. While we were looking forward to enjoying the shops along Main Street, our time was limited as we spent a lot of time indoors evading the 10+ inches of snow and multiple snowfalls that hit during our stay. We loved this home and after staying for so long, it was sad to say goodbye. We didn't really miss having a stove as we found a decent number of delivery places and plenty of wonderful restaurants close by and made do with the skillet when we weren't able to get outdoors. This house is perfectly located within walking distance of all of the shops and restaurants on main street. The house itself is well maintained and the beds, sheets and pillows are all super comfy! The owners were delightful, even making a quick trip to the market for us when the big snowfall hit. The walkway and cars were cleaned off for us (THANK YOU!) and if I ever needed anything, they were super responsive and nice to deal with. I would definitely stay here again (in nicer weather!!) and would recommend this place to anyone wanting easy walk-able access to the old downtown St Charles. My favorite places on this trip: Picasso's Coffee Shop, Handyworks (kids LOVED this place!), and Imo's (some of the best Imo's I have had!).
My 4 girlfriends and i had a wonderful cozy time at this sweet little cottage. From the pics i wasn't sure on the size of the place, but it was plenty big, so much room. i wanted to just buy the house and stay forever! so much charm in the house with the brick. it was so clean and comfortable. We cooked some meals in the crockpot and went out for lunches. the location to the shops was so close and we loved shopping and eating, we wanted to stay longer just to see everything. so close to downtown, so we were also able to go to the arch as well. Thank you Audrey for making our stay so wonderful!!!
My husband and I rented this place in July 2013. We were there with my in-laws and 2 nieces. It was perfect! The location is second to none. Close to everything, we could just walk anywhere. The cottage is absolutely beautiful, super clean, organized, it's a home away from home. Just so so pretty in every way. I really loved it and I highly recommend it. We'll definitely be back again. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
My husband and i and a couple of dear friends stayed in this wonderful cottage...pictures definately DO NOT tell the story....its much larger than pictures showed (three stories!) and full of character and historic touches that absolutely match the quaintness of St Charles....everywhere you look showed a special attention to detail...everything was spotless...the little extras and welcome basket were SO appreciated! a PERFECT location...but the house was so cozy, we really didnt like to leave it! thank you SO MUCH for everything and more than we could have imagined!
We had a great experience, the home was very clean and cozy. I spoke to the owner several times she was very helpful in answering my questions from things do locally to helping me find the home. we loved the location and the town of St Charles is very charming. The only thing I would have liked was a stove I did not pay attention to that detail. however they had an electric large frying pan and I was able to make that work. the breakfast was very simple of packaged pastries and oatmeal. so Take your own breakfast if you want something more hearty. That would not stop me from staying there again. I would very much recommend this place. it was perfect for our family. We loved the St Louis Zoo about a 30 min. drive.
It was perfect!!! All super clean and organized, very well located, walking distance to all that matters. The house is beautiful and very well maintained. Owners replied quickly to all our questions, were very punctual and honest and made the entire online rental process easy on us. I highly recommend it!
This house was a great venue for our five family members. It was immaculate, and the location could hardly be better--even my 86-year-old mother could walk down the short block to Main Street for shopping and dining, and then to the river to relax in the shade. The house is just as it looks in the pictures--cute, compact, extremely well cared for. The only thing that keeps it from being a 5-star experience is the lack of a stove and oven. We stay in VRBO properties for the convenience (and money-saving) of being able to cook most of our own meals. The kitchen is well-equipped, but there is room for, say, a center island with a cooktop and stove (and much-needed counter space) instead of the dining table, since there's another table in the living room anyway. Still, if that's not important to you, this house is terrific.
Owner Response
We are so glad to hear you enjoyed your stay with us and very much appreciate your review. It would be good to note though for future guests, that the kitchen does include a very nice toaster oven, electric skillet, and crockpot for those wanting to cook their own meals while on vacation. We also provide a barbecue pit in our private fenced in backyard that offers additional options to prepare meals. Still, for those who enjoy cooking, we have recently opened a new luxury rental, “The Main Street Guest House”, completely remodeled and located at #422 S. Main Street right on the cobblestone streets of Historic St. Charles that does include a stainless cooktop stove and oven as well as a full modern kitchen. You can check out all our properties on our website at www.theguesthouseco.com for additional information. But with so many award winning restaurants all within walking distance of all three of our guest homes, we always encourage our guests to treat yourself to a wonderful dining experience at any of the unique establishments Main Street and the surrounding area has to offer. The homes are truly located right in the center of many great places. Thank you for staying with us, we hope to hear from you again in the future!
We loved the house so much we started planning our return trip before we left. It is obvious the owners have tried to anticipate their guests' desires and needs and have prepared the house with their guests' comfort in mind. The house is beautifully renovated throughout. The beds are comfortable, the place is spotless, and it is well-stocked with many, many extras. There were even fresh flowers on the kitchen table when we arrived. We especially appreciated the zoned AC, which allowed us to keep the entire house extra cool during the hot summer days we were there. The location is perfect with many restaurants and shops close by and downtown St. Louis only 20 minutes away. This is definitely five stars plus. We highly recommend it. We can't wait to return.
We very much enjoyed our week-long visit to the Guest Cottage! The accommodations worked perfectly for us, and the home was beautiful, clean, and well cared for. We loved that we were able to take a very short walk to many restaurants, and the backyard was wonderful for the kids to play in. Having a different floor level for each of he three bedrooms offered plenty of room and privacy. The decor was charming! After several day trips to St. Louis, returning to the guest cottage was always very relaxing and peaceful. Thanks to the owner for making herself so available in the event that we might have needed anything. A great experience overall!
We really enjoyed our stay at The Guest House! We came to St. Charles to celebrate Father's Day weekend with our 2 daughters. The house is very charming and beautifully decorated. We appreciated all of the extra amenities especially the keurig coffee maker! The location is perfect for walking to all of the shops and restaurants on Main Street. Thank you Audrey for your hospitality and making us feel at home. We are looking forward to coming back!
This place is wonderful! A 140 year old home with 21st century amenities. Located near historic old Main Street and the river, with many attractions within walking distance. Audrey was very helpful with any questions or concerns. The first State Capitol is on Main Street, and they have tours hourly for only $4. Tickets are next door in the gift store. Only twenty minutes from downtown St. Louis, you will LOVE staying here!
First of all, we were in love with the photos of the property when we started planning our vacation. We were planning a trip to six flags and the zoo and there are 5 people in our family. This property gave abundant room. We were floored with awe when we walked in. In fact, we all agreed we wanted to live there. Ha ha! The owner was so courteous and polite. It is obvious they care about the renters. They want to make sure you have an enjoyable occasion while staying. From the decor to the amenities to the snacks and drinks provided, it would be hard to not feel welcome and relaxed. Oyr only regret is that we couldn't stay longer but, there is another trip in plans. I can't wait!
Owner Response
We do really care about our guests, and our guests obviously really care as well, to write such nice reviews! Thank you so much and we hope to see you soon!
My family had an excellent stay, house is well maintained and snacks were there as we arrived later in the evening. Very nice touches, made for a relaxing time as we were there for a commencement weekend.
Excellent accommodations for my friends and me. The owner's hospitality was outstanding. Breakfast items plus snacks were included. The cottage was clean and everything that was needed/wanted for our stay was furnished. I would certainly recommend a visit to this cottage.
A winner!!!!!!!! The house is totally updated and extremely comfortable.. The location is in the heart of downtown St. Charles and very conveniently located to just about anything you would want to do. The house was extremely clean and full of warm touches provided by the owners. I give it 6 out of 5 stars. Can't wait to come again!!!!!
We thoroughly enjoyed staying at The Guest House. It was immaculate and so close to everything we wanted to do. It is also close to Lindenwood University where many wonderful events are held. We saw Sha-na-na. We can't say enough nice things about our stay including the way from the very beginning with our communications concerning our stay. We did wish we had a few more outside seating - maybe a picnic table in the lovely back yard would be great. We thank you so much.
Owner Response
Thanks so much, Donna, for the nice review and great recommendation! We will definitely be looking into a picnic table! Please come again!
This home housed 4 adults and 1 teenage girl for a week. We utilized the grill outside to cook most of our meals and the skillet. This cozy home has everything you need and is in a great location. Thank you so much for opening up your home. It's truly a gem!
The Old Town Guest House was a wonderful place to stay while shopping in St. Charles. It is within walking distance to restaurants and Main St. It was immaculate and comfortable. The extra goodies were a rare treat to an already very reasonably priced cottage. We will definitely be back!
The Guest Cottage was perfect for us girls to reunite! The amenities were wonderful and we loved being able to be under the same roof to stay up and talk! This is an updated cottage with so much character. We took advantage of all the restaurants and shops St. Charles had to offer!! Thank you for making our trip run smoothly...would love to come back and stay!!
Fantastic stay! Super close, short walk to shops and restaurants! Hubby and I slept in queen bed upstairs that was so comfortable. The coffee, drinks, and snacks were great! I've rented lots of homes but never one where the owners provided such generous treats! Thanks for a great stay!
Owner Response
Thank you, Karla! We're so happy that you had a nice stay. And we appreciate the kind words about the snacks/drinks. Our hope is that guests can park their car and not have to get in it again, if they don't want to! Thanks again, and we'd love to have you back!
We very much enjoyed our stay at the Guest Cottage. Owners Audrey and Matt are really easy to work with and talk to.
Owner Response
Thanks so much! We really enjoyed meeting you and having you stay at the guest house- please come again!
I wanted a place for my family (all adults) to gather for a few days over the Christmas holiday. This property was great. I've used VRBO regularly for a number of years and had mostly very good experiences. This rates as one of those. A few things that may be of interest to others looking at this house..... The location is pretty much perfect in that area. There's a main touristy area (Main Street. Cobblestone streets, lots of shops, restaurants, bars, etc.) and the house is one block off Main pretty much dead center of the retail/food & drink establishments. There is one more street beyond Main and you are at the park that runs along the Missouri River. Once we got to the house, we never moved a car. (3 parking places for the house + street parking.) The house was spotless when we arrived and very nicely decorated for Christmas (much more so than mine). The exposed brick and stone walls are very cool and the whole place had a nice, upscale feel to it without being fussy. Everything in the place worked. Large flatscreen and Wii in the living room, 2nd flatscreen in the main bedroom. Very strong wifi. Towels were of good quality and there were plenty of them. Very good water pressure in the two showers. (No tub.) Be aware that there is not a stove/oven. There's a convection oven and electric skillet......plan accordingly. The restaurants are so good and so close, don't bother. This unit had by far the best "provisions" of any VRBO rental I've ever done. As you may know, this varies pretty widely and this set the bar for providing food-related items. There were snacks, sodas in the fridge, coffee, sugar, etc., etc. Obviously, some of this is not to be counted on, but if I had it to do over again, I would have gone to the house first, then made a list of what was really needed. We brought far more than what we had to. The communication by Audrey was very good and there were no surprises. The location is a short drive from the airport and is VERY close to Verizon Ampitheater, if you're coming in for a show. If your business or activities are in St. Charles, the Westport area, etc. this is a great spot. Be aware that as of 12/12 there is major bridge construction on the Blanchette, which is the main, closest transit over the Missouri from St. Louis in to St. Charles County. Depending on what the specifics are of construction at the time, rush hours can be brutal. Check the MODOT website for details.

Thank you so much for the kind and thoughtful review! We truly appreciate all that leave kind reviews such as these. In some cases, it is the only contact we have after someone stays at the Guerst House and it is wonderful to hear that others love it as we do. Its much appreciated for our future guests as well. It was our pleasure to host you and your family for Christmas, and we'd love to have you again. Thank you also for leaving the house in such good order! Happy New Year! -Matt & Audrey
Christmas Tradition
We LOVED our stay at the Guest House during the Christmas Holiday. The house is beautiful and so cozy. It was a wonderful to be able to walk the street of Main during the Christmas Traditions and then walk back to the house. The house is just gorgeous and all of the "extras" were great! I think this will become our new tradition! Thank you for a WONDERFUL stay! It made our Holiday Season even more magical this year!
Perfect place! Great Hosts! Wonderful town and fantastic weather! The accommodations were better then I could have imagined and we had more space then we needed. Great walking distance to shopping and dining. Absolutely enjoyed ourselves and we will be back!
Owner Response
Wow, thanks! And we can't wait to have you stay with us again!
The Cottage was beautiful and well stocked with treats. It was just as the pictures looked and it was close to everything. The beds were great and it was very clean and well maintained. I would highly recommend this Cottage for your stay.
The Cottage was just as the pictures looked and everything was great. The treats were great and everything was well stocked. Beds were comfortable and you are in a great location close to everything and the Katy Trail. I would highly recommend this place to anyone, we had a great time.
My two girlfriends of 50+ years and I, were in St. Louis for a high school reunion and thought it would be fun to stay in St. Charles, since we had never explored it when we actually lived in the area. The guest cottage was a beautiful and welcoming place for our reunion stay. It is exactly as described in the listing description, and the photos accurately portray what to expect when you arrive. It was a pleasure working with the owner, Audrey, to make the arrangements, and easy to make the necessary payments online. The house was in pristine condition when we arrived and provided many extra amenities not usually found in properties of this type; examples are baskets full of snacks, a fridge full of bottled water and juices, and fresh flowers on the kitchen table. The owner has also kindly provided a large assortment of restaurant menus as well as books and pamphlets about the St. Charles/St. Louis area; much appreciated in unfamiliar surroundings. We would recommend this charming cottage unequivocally to anyone visiting the area. Our stay could not have been more pleasant. One caveat for us "older" travelers: there are a lot of steps. Anyone with bad knees, for example, might have a little trouble...but there's a bedroom with ensuite bath on the lower, entrance level, that eliminates the need for carrying a suitcase up any steps. The location of the cottage made it easy to walk to the many shops and restaurants in the area, as well as to the Missouri Riverfront area, which is beautiful and not to be missed. We enjoyed excellent meals at Lewis & Clark's, Bradden's, The Mother In Law House (outstanding coconut cream pie!), and The Vine. A little off the beaten path, Fratelli's served us one of the most delicious Italian meals we've ever had. All in all, our stay was perfect, and the guest cottage is highly recommended!

It was so nice meeting you and your friends, Judy, and I'm thrilled that you all enjoyed yourselves so much. I would like to add that there is a bedroom on the main floor with the kitchen, livingroom, and bathroom that can be accessed through the front door without having to climb stairs. Thanks for the tip about the coconut cream pie- I'll have to check that out! :) We certainly appreciate the kind words and hope you come stay with us again soon!
My family and I were very pleased with the experience. From the very clean up-keep to the decor, all was charming and very comfortable. We couldn't have done better in terms of location too. Being just off Main Street was perfect. You could easily walk anywhere on Main, but were a bit off the main drag, that could have been noisy. We have many relatives and friends in the area who were very interested in renting the home in the future for their families/friends. Very nicely done.
When we arrived at the house we were very surprised at how beautiful it really was. They also left snacks and cold beverages that were welcomed since we had not shopped yet. We would definately recommend this house to anyone staying in that area. It does have alot of stairs but what didnt in the area. Nice and spacious!!!!!
We had a great time at the Guesthouse in St. Charles. It is a super location: just a block off of the main street, shopping, and restaurants. There is private parking in the back of the house, and a nice yard to sit and relax. Oddly enough, the picture of the house from the outside did not match our house, so that was an interesting surprise. The house was clean, and there were snacks awaiting us when we arrived. That's a welcome bonus! The layout of the house worked so well, because each level can be kept separate for the early to bed crowd or the late morning sleepers, and we didn't have to tiptoe around worrying about disturbing each other. There are two full baths, and one even has a sink area outside of the shower, so two people can use the facilities without concern. The house does not have a stove, so if you're planning on actually cooking, you'd be better off ordering pizza. That aside, it was completely enjoyable, fairly priced, easily accessed, and Audrey was delightful to work with. I highly recommend it.

Thank you so much! We were happy to have you! I'm trying to think of what could have happened with the picture mix-up. We only have one photo of a house and its definitely ours! :) We did feature a couple shots of Main Street, so maybe that's what you saw, and I certainly apologize for any confusion. I'm glad you liked it so much though! For our guests who do want to cook, we have a crock pot, toaster oven, toaster, and electric skillet if you would like to use them. Thanks again and come again soon!
We really enjoyed our stay. The unit was very clean and nicely decorated. It was located just steps away from the historic district. We also enjoyed all the snacks and drinks. There are alot of stairs so get ready for some exercise. This place really did have everything you needed.

Thanks! We really try to make our guests comfortable and stress-free. Being a three level home, there are some stairs, but that division in sleeping spaces is sometimes nice for people to spread out, too. For anyone that has trouble with stairs, there is a bedroom on the same level as the kitchen, living room and bathroom, so you wouldn't have to walk them if you didn't want. Thanks again for the kind words and come again soon!

Matt and Audrey,
We just wanted to thank you personally for providing such an exceptional guest house. We had a wonderful experience! As owners of an 1893 Victorian house, we appreciated that many original features were kept in your guest house - as well as the decor being in keeping with the "feel" of the house. The entire house was immaculately cleaned and decorated. Your attention to detail (food, decor, garden, wall maps, fresh flowers, menus, personal contact) created a memorable experience for our anniversary weekend. We appreciated your ideas for an anniversary dinner. We ate at the Little Hills Winery, which was also an excellent experience. We were unaware that we would be in St. Charles during the big Lewis and Clark Festival, and were pleasantly surprised to make this part of our weekend. We certainly will plan another trip to St. Charles and your guest house in the future!
With kind regards,
Kathleen and Robert
The home was lovely. It is three stories with the master bedroom and bathroom in the basement. The basement walks out into a spacious backyard and parking spot. My kids loved the outdoor toys provided. The main floor has a small bedroom, bathroom, livingroom and kitchen. No stove in the kitchen, but they do have a toaster oven. The upstairs is a cozy bedroom with two queen beds. The home slept our family of six very comfortably. Becuase the owners are so careful not to allow animals, my son did not have any allergy problems while staying here (rare for him).

Glad to hear you had a nice stay! And it's really good to get positive feedback on the no pet policy. We hate turning people away, but we want all our guests to be comfortable and allergy free for their visits. We'd love to have you again if you come to St. Louis!

Our family of four had a great getaway at the Old Town Guesthouse. We were pleasantly surprised with the snacks and cold drinks awaiting our arrival. We felt right at home. The owners are very prompt in their communications and very nice to work with. We loved the location of the house. It was very easy to walk to dinner, the gym and the coffee shop. Everything was a short walk from the house. Our kids loved the Wii and the movie selections. The home is very charming and welcoming. The home has very high ceilings and rich warm wood floors. Great access to Katy Trail. Thank you Matt and Audrey. We can't wait for a return visit.

The owners go above and beyond to create a comfortable atmosphere for the traveler. The house is beautiful, the beds are very comfortable, extremely clean house, wonderful neighborhood rich in history. Shops are within walking distance. The owners provided snacks in the refrigerator and cabinets--a welcome surprise for our family of seven. Fenced back yard allowed our smaller children to burn off some energy! Owner was very accommodating, going so far as to leave games, toys and a baby gate for our family to use during our stay. If you are going to the St. Louis/St. Charles area, this house is a MUST! Plenty of room for the kids to spread out after a long drive or a long day of sightseeing. We had a very positive experience with this rental. Nothing negative about our stay here.
